5 months!

O my, I'm really late on this one. I had plans to write a little something on Dec. 3 the day we found out I was pregnant, Dec. 9 the day we found out we were having twins, and Dec. 20 the day we found out it was indeed triplets. (I still could for that one but I don't see it happening) BUT it's really hard to stay on top of things with three babies! So here's a very sad excuse for a 5 month update....just pics. :)

But the biggest news of all is.....
Uncle Mike and Aunt Jessica are expecting baby boy Templeton on April 15th!!!! Connor, Max and Evi are so excited to meet their cousin who will only be a couple blocks away!!!

lots of friends helping with feedings this month! Nick is making Max laugh!

aww sweet sleeping Max

My mom was in town again so there were lots of outfit changes. Here the boys are wrestling!

Rian, Adela, William, and Margaret at Adela's 1st birthday!
Adela and the trips at their first birthday party

Evi slept through the night so she got to go to Snooze (our fav breakfast spot)

World Prematurity Day

Yesterday was World Prematurity Day. 1 in 8 babies is born prematurely in the United States and 13 million are born prematurely worldwide every year! Three of them are ours and we are beyond blessed that I had amazing antepartum care in the hospital, outstanding doctors and nurses in the NICU, and such strong support from family and friends. Yes, this gets sappy but I really am blown away everyday that I had three human beings growing inside of me and they are not only doing great they are thriving. Four and a half months ago we brought home our amazing sons and daughter! They were born at 34 weeks and 1 day. They were 6 weeks early and spent a short (but long to us) 15 days in the NICU. They weighed a mere 3 lbs 15oz, 3 lbs 14 oz, and 4lbs. I met so many moms in the hospital that struggled immensely and overcame amazing odds. So, yesterday, was a day to remember all the little ones that made it into this world despite their struggles and all the little ones that didn't make it; their moms and dads, their families, the doctors and nurses that cared for them and everyone whose lives they touched.

4 months

They're four months old and doing all kinds of things. I find myself taking way more videos than I do pictures cause they are so active and constantly doing new things.

http://youtu.be/d11hkQMPDOg

I thought I'd post our schedule since I'm sure one day we won't remember anything.

Schedule:
6am: feeding (3.5-5.5oz) then Todd's off to work.
-9:30am: play time, possibly a 30 min cat nap sometimes longer
9:30: Meagan comes and we try to avoid baby mayhem until their bottles are ready.
10am: feeding and diaper change
-1:30: normally this is their big daytime nap and they sleep pretty much the whole time...normally
2pm: feeding and diaper change. Meagan leaves at 2:30.
-5:30: playtime, short nap (45 mins to an hour)
4:30/45: todd gets home!!!
6pm: feeding diaper change
7: bedtime
10: feeding
Then they should sleep through the night but recently we've been having some wake ups around 2, 3, and 4. Hopefully it will get better soon!

As exhausting as it all is I have to admit sometimes when they sleep for long periods during the day I have an urge to wake them up and play with them; but i don't...ever.

weighing in at: 11lbs 3oz
Evi is drooling so much she has to wear a bib all the time. Maybe it's the early stages of teething but I think it too early for that. She is always smiling and showing off her gums. Always! She smiles when she first wakes up, when she's eating, when she's on the changing table, seriously all the time. She's a very happy baby. She even started giggling, which is adorable. Evi was the first to pick up her head when on tummy time and now she couldn't care less about it. She can do it; she just doesn't want to. She's over it. She can also roll over but doesn't try too often since she now hates tummy time. She has the widest, most inquisitive eyes that make you wonder what she's really thinking all the time.

Max was the first to roll over this month! He loves it. Every time you put him on the floor he instantly rolls over and over and over. He even tries when he's in his bouncy chair so we've had to start strapping them in. He has definitely found his hands and occasionally stares at them in amazement while accidentally hitting himself in the face and then looking very confused about what just happened. He grabs at toys and plays with both hands now. He loves his giraffe blanket and cuddles with it when he naps in his bouncy. Max seems to be the first to figure things out and I swear he tells his siblings how to do it or what he just learned because they always do whatever it is later that same day or very soon after! Max loooves his brother and sister. He will stare at them until they look back at him and then babble babble babble with a huge grin.

Weighing in at 10lbs 11oz
Connor loves music. He gets very serious and still when the music starts then get so overly excited that it's hilarious. He moves his whole body around (I guess that's dancing?) and gets a huge smile that won't go away, even if he was just about to fall asleep. His favorite activity is the rainforest mat. He stares at everything with such amazement and excitement like it really is the absolute coolest thing in the world. Connor is also a rolling machine. Both the boys love being on the floor rolling around, practicing lifting their head, bumping into each other...such boys.

All of them are babbling like crazy and we've yet to crack the code but we like to think we have some insight. We assume they are the smartest babies in the world and when they say "agoo" that means "i love you" and "aghee" means "Maggie". Yep smartest babies ever! :)
Connor, Max, Evi...more crabs!

Last night they went to their first Rapids game! (well, just the tailgate but that was a pretty big deal). Uncle Mike proudly carried Connor in a baby bjorn and Evi and Max were totted around by mom and dad. Then on the way home they got the biggest kick out of us saying "Go Rapids!" It was evidently hilarious! I think they like saying "gggg".

We did get to go up to the mountains to see the leaves changing before the snow came. It was really beautiful but probably a little much for 4 month old triplets. We planned a whole picnic, brought the dog, thought we'd walk around on an easy trail. Not so much. It ended up being a quick photo shoot, a long drive home, lunch while driving, screaming babies on mountain roads, and a sad, confused dog. But hey we got some good photos!

They feel asleep like this one day!

The boys chilling watching some sunday morning soccer.
probably the last time they will all fit in the same bouncy
We still love Maggie very very much!!
Not sure what she thinks of the bumbo chair.

3 months (7 weeks adjusted)

There are a lot of little new things the triplets are doing these days. They're sucking on their hands a lot, holding on to toys, drooling, cooing/babbling, and making spit bubbles. It doesn't sound like a lot but these are big differences. It seems like every day they get bigger, more alert and stronger. It's so much fun finding these new little developments! They have two major "tricks" right now that we take every opportunity to show off. First they can put weight on their feet so with help from mom and dad they practice standing and look like miniature little people. Secondly, they mimic us when we stick out our tongue. All three of them do it and it is quite possibly the cutest thing I've ever seen. They stare at you and then think really really really hard before they figure it out and once they do they get so proud of themselves and give a great big smile. It's awesome!

Connor is the most talkative. He's perfectly content just sitting there chatting gibberish to himself.

Max is a very chill baby. He's the last to cry, the first to sleep, and happy no matter where you put him.

Evi is definitely the boss. She still has the loudest cry and she means business when she's upset.

They've had a busy month. More family was in town. Their Great Grandparents came down from Montana and spent a couple days with them!!! They met their great aunt Kathy, their 2nd cousins Melissa, Amber, and Brianna. Grandpa Bob came to town for a while and my mom came back for a couple weeks.

My mom and I took the kids out on lots of adventures. We drove 45 minutes away and went shopping at the outlets and fed them in the food court! I'm sure we were quite the sight to see! Then we started leaving one or two with Meagan (a wonderful helper who comes for two feedings a day, Monday through Thursday...Thanks Bob and Erin!) and it was much more manageable. We went to bookstores, out to eat, BBQ's, and Target...of course.  It's so great to get out and not feel like I'm locked up in the house too. We also went to Todd's office to meet all the incredidably nice people who threw that huge baby shower for us. They were perfect angels and everyone oooed and awed over them. They  also went to 2 photo shoots. I hope they don't get caught up in all their fame. It's funny when you have triplets cause every photographer you know wants to take pictures for free to add to their portfolio. So, how can we say no to more pictures of these guys?

Their first play date! That's Eliana who was born 1 day earlier (at full term)

Where is all this red hair coming from???
Their first BBQ!

This just shows how hard it is to get a good picture of 3 month old triplets
We also had our first sickness. They all collectively came down with a cold. Nothing too serious just congestion, lack of appitite, and major fussiness! It only lasted a couple days but mom and dad got it worse and it lasted with us a little longer. Having a cold as an adult with lack of sleep and the responsibility of taking care of THREE little ones IS. NOT. FUN.

2 months (2 weeks adjusted)

Max, Connor and Evi are 2 months old today well, since they were born six weeks early they have an adjusted age as well. It makes everything more complicated because you never know where they should be developmentally or what to say when someone asks! They keep tracking their adjusted age until they turn one. By then they 'catch up' and develop at the same rate as non preemie born kids.

This month has been full of lots of family visits. My mom left and Todd's mom came out and then Todd's dad. These kids are so lucky to have such loving family members!!

Happy 40 week due date birthday!

So for what it's worth...the triplets are officially not preemies any more! August 7th is the due date we were given as the official due date from the get go. We always knew we wouldn't make it to this date but had no idea their birthday would be June 27th, an impressive (for triplets) 6 weeks early. Here's a pic of them today....

And for some individual shots.... (These were taken on their way to their daily walk in City Park)
